SUMMER SCHOOL

The Barcelona Science and Technology Diplomacy summer school is a first-of-its-kind program in Science and Technology Diplomacy developed to train the next cohort of leaders in a field that is increasingly essential to tackle humanity’s global challenges. It is jointly offered with IBEI, a leading academic and research institution on global affairs from Barcelona.

Aimed at mid-career scientists, technology and foreign affairs professionals, the program examines the most relevant topics in the field of science and technology diplomacy, ranging from sustainable development to technology diplomacy, with special focus on its implications in Europe, the Mediterranean and the role of cities global. Complementing academic training with professional development activities, visits and on-the-field lectures, the Barcelona Science and Technology Diplomacy Summer School is an excellent opportunity for all those professionals interested in the role science and technology has in global governance.

DIPLOMATIC CIRCLE

The Barcelona SciTech Diplomatic Circle is a joint initiative between SciTech DiploHub and Barcelona City Council that aims at becoming the platform to engage in periodic visits, encounters and policy briefings between the 100+ diplomatic missions and international organizations serving the city and leaders representing academia, research centers and technology sector which shape the innovation ecosystem of Barcelona.

Heads of missions, counselors, attachés and officers dealing with science, technology and innovation from consulates, embassies and international organizations will have the chance to find out new bonds with Barcelona’s science and tech scene, exchange best practices and connect back to their countries.

OPEN EVENT SERIES

The Open Event Series will bring scientist, engineers, innovators, diplomats, international relations practitioners, policymakers, students and other interested professionals together around emerging issues of science and technology diplomacy in a series of bimonthly events.

Talks, conferences and workshops will showcase real cases and best practices of the essential function of science and technology in foreign policy, from building bridges between countries to informing policy, and will engage participants in exploring how the global challenges that societies face require solutions and tools that will come from the complex interaction between the diverse players in science, technology and diplomacy.

BARCELONA ALUMNI

The Barcelona Alumni aims to identify, bring together and empower the community of scientists and engineers from Barcelona and alumni of the city’s research centers and universities currently based abroad. By cultivating and strengthening lasting relationships with them, they can help us to better identify best practices and opportunities and to engage awider audiences around the world.

The members of Barcelona Alumni Network actively contribute by connecting the dots in science, technology and innovation between Barcelona and the World. The Alumni will meet annually in a Global Summit hosted by the leading members of Barcelona’s science and technology ecosystem.

YOUNG INNOVATION LEADERS

The Young Innovation Leaders Program is a flagship young leadership program by SciTech DiploHub and supported by the Barcelona innovation ecosystem. The program is aimed at young fellows from all around the world willing to enhance their entrepreneurship and leadership skills, as well as gain access to one of the world’s fastest growing ecosystems in science, technology and innovation: Barcelona.

Through our Young Innovation Leaders Program, participants are introduced to some of the top practitioners and institutions of the city with the objective to expand their professional development opportunities, enhance their entrepreneurship, leadership and management skills and develop long lasting relationships with the Barcelona ecosystem.
